Community projects

Contributing to the Tech Community

Working with technology is rewarding in itself—but building and sharing technology with others is where the real magic happens. Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to lead and take part in a number of workshops, hackathons, and community initiatives aimed at making tech more accessible, inclusive, and collaborative.

This is a snapshot of the journey so far.

Workshops

One of my favorite ways to share knowledge is through hands-on workshops. These are some of the sessions I’ve either led or co-hosted:

  • Learn What an API is by Using One
A beginner-friendly workshop hosted for Coding for Immigrants, where I introduced participants—many of whom were new to both Sweden and software development—to the fundamentals of APIs and how to use them in practice. The session was designed to be accessible and hands-on, providing a supportive space to build confidence with real-world tools.

  • Build an Answering Machine with Flask
A workshop during PyCon Sweden 2021. Me in collaboration with Victoria Wagman, we built a voice-based answering machine using Python and Flask.
PyCon Sweden is the national Python conference in Sweden, where I’m in the board of as well.
Victoria is a developer and educator known for combining creativity and technology in hands-on learning experiences.

  • Sending SMS from Notion using the 46elks API
Me and Rene Brakus showed how to integrate Notion and SMS using the 46elks API.
This workshop was done in collaboration with Sanja Veletanlić from Go2human Hub.

  • august API workshop and also july API workshop
These workshops where both live-coding session exploring audio interactions and voice tech, during Sommarkodare 2022 hosted by 46elks.

  • The command line for beginners
A workshop about what the Command Line or the Terminal actually is and how it works. An important tool for you as a developer, which is a must to get to know a bit better.

Community

Community-building is at the heart of everything I do in tech. Whether it’s creating safer learning spaces or encouraging new voices, I believe the future of technology depends on inclusion.

  • Django Girls Uppsala
I helped organize and be a mentor during this one-day event together with PyLadies Stockholm and PyCon Sweden, where participants built their first websites using Python and Django.
Django Girls is a global nonprofit that empowers women to learn programming by organizing free coding workshops.
PyLadies is an international mentorship group focused on helping more women become active participants in the Python community.
PyCon Sweden is the national Python conference in Sweden.

  • UPPSTART Tech Conference
I shared my journey into tech and community work at UPPSTART, one of Sweden’s largest startup and tech events.
UPPSTART brings together tech founders, developers, and investors with a focus on the Nordic ecosystem.

  • Coding For Immigrants
A Stockholm-based initiative that helps newcomers to Sweden access tech careers through mentoring, projects and peer learning.
This project is grassroots-led and supported by various volunteers in the local developer community.
